I thought it had too many characters, but I still liked BR49, it had some really good scenes and raised interesting questions and themes. It needed some slimming down in the writing phase though. BR seems small and intimate in comparison.
avatar
Probably true but I think we all can agree, although he has brilliant eye, Scott is hardly a good judge of editing Smile
avatar
I think you could cut 40mn out of it and make it way better. Even Ridley Scott says so.
avatar
My mother thought it was "dire".
avatar
But I do understand some of the hate around it. Unlike Fury Road, BR2049 was never going to be a crowd pleaser. In that way, it is very much like the original BR
avatar
I loved it. I came out of the theater feeling like I did after Fury Road. Someone actually pulled off a sequel to a 30 year old film and it worked! (Sorry Tron) Personally, it and Fury Road are the only films I would rate close to perfect in the last 10 years
avatar
What did you guys think of Blade Runner 2029? Personally I HATED it.

According to BD.com users, the Bruce Lee UHDs don't benefit much from the 4k native bump. Also they're SDR and were probably done in that color range ala the Italian Suspiria.
avatar
Looking at the Caps-a-Holic comparison, color aside, Kino has more image on top, right, bottom, and resolution is not bad IMHO...
avatar
Are there problems with Kino AFoD beyond the color-timing? In other words, putting that aside, how does it stack up against previous releases?
avatar
@CSchmidlapp I believe the Bruce Lee films are out on 4k Blu-ray in France. It would be interesting to see if the I'mmagine Ritrovata restorations benefit from the 4k treatment.
avatar
I find that some of the I'mmagine Ritrovata restorations tend to look better on a display with strong backlighting that can bring out more of the color. I must say though, the night scenes look pretty good on the Kino Blu-ray (screens 8, 12 and 13).
avatar
i guessing here a bit but I don't think its a problem with the restorations per say. More the transfer to lower tier media like Bluray. I 'dream' there is a pristine 16bit master behind this uglyness.
avatar
that Kinio AFOD is atrocious
avatar
That looks the same as TGTBATU, that's just terrible
avatar
avatar
Wasn't it remastered by same studio that did A Better Tomorrow that shares same issue?
avatar
It is very green indeed, and I don't know if the mono track isn't simply a fold-down. There is nothing "remastered" about it, the old Italian or German BD are still miles better.
avatar
that the new Kino release of AFOD you're talking about? After the botched TGTBATU release, i decided to stick with my MGM set
avatar
Anyone see the remaster for Fistful of Dollars yet? It looks very, very green.
avatar
Hey guys. Does anybody know a online store where I can buy an hdd storage (external/portable) for a good price on this black friday?

avatar

There is no protocol per say. Just have them create a new account.

Also, he wasn't exactly healthy, there were cognitive deficiencies not uncommon with men in their 80s. And yeah, at 95, he did live to a ripe old age, but death comes to us all, eventually.
avatar
I think the point Feallan was making was once you are in your 90s, there is no such thing as healthy
avatar
95.
avatar
Well, he was 96...
avatar
I don't understand... I thought he was healthy...

avatar
Loved his work on Scarface!
avatar
Giorgio Moroder is great. I love what he did with Metropolis.
avatar
I booked Giorgio Moroder for 2019. I know, totally different... but at least it was cheap Big Grin
avatar
Yeah.. ticket price like from hell... but.. never saw them before live... and I like their shows on BD and DVD...
avatar
@MrBrown I got to see them live last year. It was great (apart from stupid expensive ticket prices and crappy venue).
avatar
Yeah! I am going to see Rammstein live next year! Big Grin

Artistic input?
avatar
Does anyone have experience with After Effects? I have a small video project I need help with that requires a bit of artistic input send me a private message.
avatar
Well, I translated a German word into a English word, and got only one result, seems as if the translation was not perfectly fitting my intented expression.
avatar
Merriam-Webster: subliminal (adjective) - "inadequate to produce a sensation or a perception". That explains your not getting the humor. I'll explain ... so, you see, the reference was to the story Nineteen Eighty Four, written in 1948. It ostensibly was about a future society, but actually was about the present day society. 1948 ... 1984 ... 19:84pm (I put the "pm" in) ... Get it? Wink
avatar
@BT: Neither people, nor posts just "disappeared". Your subliminal way of conspirational theoristic accusations are quite inppropriate and not really funny.
avatar
Mine was sort-of rhetorical, too. Let's check our watches ... it's 19:84pm. Let see how long before a reply. Big Grin
avatar
it was rhetorical, i have a pretty good idea of what he may have done
avatar
With people & posts disappearing, only the admin/mods would know. Care to speak up, fellas?
avatar
lmao, wonder what ol jetrell did to get himself banned here
avatar
Whoa! Did that "sock-puppet" word slip out? By the gods! BronzeTitan is NOONE's sock-puppet! DO YOU HEAR ME, HERMES?! HERA?! APHRODITE?! ATHENA?! ZEUS?! *lightning strike* Ouch! Oh, Zeus, you were listening. Sorry. Of course, your will is my command. (That was close. Shocked )
avatar
yup!
avatar
sporv?
avatar
@BT: not understood sock-puppet thing... may you explain? thanks!
avatar
Alas, that's our sock-puppet existance. But it isn't against The Rules. For me, I just carry around this huge, 2-story long, bronze sword. Wink
