The good side on the "just a beefed up" version is that the downward compatibility is given. not as with the PS3, when they changed the Processor Architecture to a extreme, and for PS4 another Architecture Change that made the Console not backwards compatible. I think if there is a game thats interests me, I might go for it as PS5 version, if a cool limited edition is released that I want, but will still get the console later.
avatar
As for the new consoles: Either is just a beefed up version of the current gen. At least that's how I see them at this point. There is no game that I want from the launch titles for 80 bucks. I just test them out and then sell them off or return them and get the money back.
avatar
And there is no open matte Lord of the Rings TRILOGY on fanres.
avatar
Serenity this is the second time you have asked for something in the shoutbox. Please do not ask again and as pipefan said read the rules.
avatar
@Serenity91 Read the rules please.
avatar
can someone send me the download link for "Lord of the Rings Trilogy - Open Matte" thanks
avatar
I bought my PS3 shortley before that model was discontinued. It was the first fat with 60GB (European Model, sadly) that stil can play some PS2 titles. Later, when I was more days abroard, I got a slim, because the fat was too heavy and bulky.
avatar
Yeah I don't get preordering hardware. Why pay to betatest for someone else? Smile
avatar
@MrBrown My launch model PS3 was my SACD player amongst other things but that doesn't really make much difference after it suffers total hardware failure because they used thermal compound so bad that it turned to dust and fried all the ICs...
avatar
@MrBrown Yep, if Sony has taught us anything, it's that they cannae be trusted to manufacture a solid, reliable product first time around... they'll fix it for the next revision.
avatar
I did not even try. This time I just wait until the revised PS5 in some years, I think.
avatar
I got them both. Probably will sell them later for profit Tongue
avatar
Took me a 20 frantic mins on the Microsoft Store this morning to get my X order through!
avatar
Anyone else manage to pre-order an Xbox Series S|X or PS5?
avatar
The HP films were archived by their creator spoRv since he felt they were no longer needed. Once something is the archived section it is understood to no longer be available.
avatar
@awsmguy145 i am talking about the version in the "Archived" here on this site, with the german dubs, the Fundamental Collection
avatar
Serenity91, ik piracy is illegal but Open Matte version of the Harry Potter movies is out there on russian trackers. You can just download it from a torrent if you wish
avatar

RIP Ron Cobb, famed production designer of Alien, 2010, BTTF, Conan and many more.
avatar
hi
avatar
Actually alleycat is wrong. The BD never had the mono mix. However it's now included on the 4K release. Though only in lossy Dolby
avatar
Wasn't aware the mono for Full Metal Jacket was on a previous Blu-ray release.
avatar
So the UHD is right on home alone?
avatar
Full Metal Jacket 4k - just 5.1 on the 4k disc and the blu ray disc is the same as the 2007 disc except they removed the lossy mono audio - so no mono at all Sad
avatar
Bummer about the Home Alone remix. Might have to try to find the other Blu-ray or DVD release and sync it before my holiday viewing
avatar
Anyone noticed that the Home Alone UHD 5.1 mix sounds different compared to the 5.1 on the previous Blu and DVDs? The 5.1 on those releases have a different sounding center channel and stereo rears, plus a booming LFE. The UHD's 5.1 lacks LFE and the rears are mono surround, which indicates it might be a discrete version of the original Dolby Stereo LRCS mix
avatar
@Chewtobacca Also, this is a good ffmpeg build repository https://sourceforge.net/projects/ffmpeg-windows-builds/

If the new cable doesn't work I'd check the RF out socket in case there's a dry solder joint, maybe worth measuring the output voltage to see if it's strong enough. I keep saying this but sign up at lddb, the forum is a goldmine of technical info
avatar
@zoidberg It is a Sony MOD-RF1. If this cable doesn't work, I don't know if I have it in me (or my wallet) to try to get my player/RF mod fixed or replaced. I might be "donating" a large amount of AC-3 discs to someone to capture.
avatar
Which demodulator are you using @alinskey? A select few needed an adjustment to help lock onto RF signals from varying players
avatar
@alinskey: any composite cable should be able to carry the digital signal but a bad cable could be a cause of your problems. It could also be something off with the alignment in your player or the RFmod. The cable sounds like a good place to try first.
avatar
@alleycat: none that I'm aware of. The German BD and the HDTV floating around are the same old transfer probably done in the late 90s.
avatar
Might be a silly question but is there a particular cable that works better for AC-3 RF demodulator? I've been using a composite cable and getting a lot of issues with the demodulator not "locking" to the single. I've got a digital coax cable coming in the mail. Should I expect better results or is a demod not "locking" something more severe?
avatar
Anyone know if there has ever been a decent release of The Ghost And The Darkness? I gather there is a German Blu Ray but understand the transfer is really bad
avatar
^ I thought the bad Daleks had finally caught up with you.
avatar
Sorry I've not been around much lately. I've had so much going on in my work and private life (nothing bad) that I've not had much free time lately. Sorry to everyone who has mentioned and messaged me, I'm not ignoring you, I'll try and respond to you all soon Smile
avatar
@Chewtobacca Oh nice!

The Mandalorian Season 2 Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eW7Twd85m2g
avatar
I was already excited when I read they made a new adaptation. Trailer has hyped me even more.
avatar
Same! @Kynch
avatar
I'm very excited at the prospect of seeing in 1.43:1 at the IMAX: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJsUQmzHl94
avatar
Watched it earlier, been excited about this. Trailer manages to kind of scupper my enthusiasm somewhat by being generic big hollywood blockbuster trailerhouse fare but I have enjoyed everything Denis Villeneuve has done that I've seen (which is most of his films) so I'm still hoping for something good here.
avatar
avatar
My son won't be happy with that news PDB. They were part way through writing the next series as well.
avatar
RIP Venture Bros. It was a great run
avatar
ah crap, thanks @Chewtobacca
avatar
It's where the Windows builds are hosted. So from my point of view, no! Big Grin
avatar
Is there something special about the zeranoe FFMPEG?
avatar
Those who need ffmpeg builds for Windows from zeranoe should grab them before it closes shop: https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/
avatar
That new Bond trailer looks rather nice.
avatar
Is there anything better?
avatar
I read that there exists a DCP in HD by croco films, that was used insome theatres 2008, but the quality is said to be not really well.
avatar
Does anyone know if a HD version of Pink Floyd's The Wall exists?

Thanks to new options available in MyBB, I changed registration captcha from Google's reCAPTCHA to hCAPTCHA. I tested it and seems to work fine, but if anyone can't register, drop me an email on admin[guesswhatsign]fanres.com

Updated the forum
avatar
Dude was a great actor. Tragedy he was taken so young.
avatar
When I first read the headline, I felt a similar punch to the gut I felt back in 2008 about Heath Ledger. Just the sudden randomness of a young artist taken at a very specific height.
avatar
Sad Damn.
avatar
RIP Chadwick Boseman...
avatar
The article reads: "In 2018, it was discovered that Who Goes There? was actually a shortened version of a longer story that John Campbell Jr. had written, and the Frozen Hell manuscript laid untouched for decades." I'm down!
avatar
the best comment regarding the thing 2011 prequel/remake, as in missed opportunity to make something original that expands the story, I've heard on recent Junkfood Cinema podcast: what if the prequel was "a la Sorcerer" story of how each of the men on Outpost 31 came to the job there. Now, that's a pitch!.
avatar
avatar
avatar
Looks like they're going to try and do another The Thing!
avatar
Gotta "love" the American sensibilities involving COVID. Keeping my fingers crossed it won't ruin Cinematic Void's 2021 January Giallo 35mm screenings.
avatar
Knowing our luck, we'll all be dead.
avatar
That really stinks, @alexp120 ! If it weren't for COVID, I would've seen a Joe Hisaishi/Ghibli concert by now. As it is, it's been postponed to the same time next year. But who knows what'll happen by then?
avatar
Bummer! The Royal Albert Hall has postponed these 'film-with-live-orchestra' concerts: Superman and SW:ROTJ with The London Symphony Orchestra. https://www.royalalberthall.com/about-th...postponed/
avatar
Anyone else hear about the Beastmaster situation rn? https://twitter.com/DonCoscarelli/status...89441?s=20
avatar
@Kynch it's full of nostalgia, especially the Sega vs Nintendo war
avatar
So much stuff I want to watch, another one added to the list @alleycat!
avatar
avatar
Nothing to do with video but netflix just released a series called High Score about the history of video game consoles and games
avatar
Mad Max 4k Dolby Vision just announced by Kino Lorber
avatar
@Serums Glad to hear it!
avatar
@tjmackey Thanks for asking! I got it sorted out.
avatar
@Serums, I know this was about a month ago, but did you still need someone who could speak/understand Korean?
avatar
I didn't even know there had been a re-edit! Woaft
avatar
Interesting. I wonder if the colors are accurate supposing it is referring to a 35mm theatrical print (though the fact that the footage appears to come from a VHS release isn't promising). Which reminds me, does anyone think Sorcerer would make an interesting regrade project if it color matched to this 35mm trailer scan: https://youtu.be/7JSRqjCgL9Q
avatar
!!! Highlights from THE WAGES OF FEAR (1978) re-edit of SORCERER (1977) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLXEcXGZIc4
avatar
Hahah. I feel your pain.
avatar
Many ppl complaining about no atmos and only 1 complaining about no mono track on the full metal jacket 4k. Sad!
avatar
MacOS users. Think twice about installing/upgrading ffmpeg with homebrew. My build got to 5 hours before I gave up Undecided After, I downloaded a static build and had it installed within 2mins lol
avatar
RIP
avatar
When will they release War and Remembrance on Blu-ray!?
avatar
Great actor.
avatar
RIP Wilford Brimley
avatar
RIP Alan Parker.
avatar
@pipefan413 thanks for that! I got asked to help with a bonus feature for an upcoming release, it's clips from the Korean version of an old kung fu film (exclusive footage). There's about 2 minutes of dialogue dubbed in Korean, it's a VHS rip though so it's a bit noisy.
avatar
@Serums I'm most definitely not a Korean speaker but I managed to very slowly re-translate the Korean section of Snowpiercer to English so I may or may not be able to help depending on why you're asking
avatar
Out of curiosity, do we have any Korean speakers (or anyone who knows a bit) here?
avatar
Cheers PDB. I ended up using Postimage.org. Seems to do the trick Smile
avatar
God help me I use imgur, since my pics seem to last forever on there. I have pics 6 years old at this point that are still online.
