CLED is the future
avatar
That CLEDIS is pretty neat tech but crazy expensive.
avatar
Would that tech be better then Sonys CLEDIS tech
avatar
avatar
Damn! I'll take one too please Smile
avatar
Anyone want to buy me one of these? http://commercialintegrator.eu/samsung-c...TaoOfColor
avatar
Oh yeah, me too. Live long and prosper! (I'd do the vulcan hand sign, but that hurts worse than the typing.)
avatar
Maybe you are right, and I will certainly not go to the theater to watch it... still, I'll take a look when available on home media.
avatar
It seems too contemporary ... like the corporate comedy-group works up a New York comedy and the boss says, "Been there, done that, a boring flop". Then the group manager jumps in. "We can put it in space! Like Star Trek! All the Trekkies will automatically love it and we won't have to rewrite a thing!" The boss exclaims, "Great idea, and it'll make me a bundle! I knew my daughter picked a winner!" "Thanks, Dad!", the manager replies.
avatar
I think The Orville is just another comedy in a Star Trek-esque universe like Galaxy Quest, and it seems funny as well!
avatar
@Jetrell Fo- Yeah, rules are best made when in consultation with the membership base.
avatar
^ ^ I'm guessing "The Orville" is NOT true "Galaxy Quest" canon? Funny in a Hollywood sort-of way, but not canon. Tongue
avatar
@Valeyard ... it's a very grey area in that section really. It does have a majority, and make no mistake, they do rule it. Any internet site is only as good as it's admin in the end. Since it's his site, it's his rules, regardless of what rules are actually posted.
avatar
After Galaxy Quest, The Orville: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ej24W8gcmXQ
avatar
Yeah you have every right to feel disappointed. Sad I didn't see any bad behaviour looking over it, although to be fair I'm not too familiar with the OT section as I avoid it.
avatar
Cool, I was just a bit lost.
avatar
I am chosing not to say anything in public as we have some OT members here and it wouldn't be fair for things to spill over.
avatar
I can only direct you to OT's off topic section for more info poita.
avatar
?
avatar
Just look at it this way ... OT's loss is FR's gain! And your gain, too. Good luck!
avatar
I'm just totally disappointed right now.
avatar
It's probably just me. I'll be on eggshells for a few weeks after today.
avatar
No worries! it's easy! Watch this ... "!@#$%^&* %$# @^%$& !" ... Smile ... *taps foot*... "$%@# $#% !" ... "waits longer* ... Smile ... *hums to self* ... Smile ... See? Nothing! So go for it! Big Grin
avatar
I'm actually kind of fearful of using the shoutbox now. I hope everyone is doing well. Smile
avatar
Thanks heavens for FFAudioSource()! ****ing DTS Express mono...
avatar
avatar
I can't decide if this is brilliance or lack of ideas. But looking at the old school workmanship, I'll go with brilliance.
avatar
They have to kill themselves if they screw this up. https://youtu.be/RudzOqb-fRc
avatar
Thanks for the heads-up! I watched my Dark Crystal BD only a week or so ago. Let's hope the series is worth watching.
avatar
I didn't know they were doing a Dark Crystal TV series on Netflix: https://youtu.be/OGzVYyV_Jsg
avatar
Anyway... what grain plate would be recommended for 70mm?
avatar
Never mind, I think I'm getting the file.
avatar
What's the catch? (Note that I tend to avoid torrenting sites like the plague, personally.)
avatar
A quick search with that file name brought it up, and more, at various sharing sites. There are quite a few grain variations available, of [I'm guessing] lossless video files [200MB each] to merge into your footage: fine, course, clean, dirt, hair, flicker, etc.
avatar
There is a big free grainplate pack available some where but I don't remember where, with Kodak grainplates which look very good too.
avatar
I don't remember the source, as I downloaded it years ago, but I am using something with filename of "07-COARSE_CLEAN.mov"
avatar
For animated films, which grain plate would you swear by?
avatar
Generated grain will never beat real grainplate in my opinion.
avatar
You should propably find just grainplate that fits you, there are plenty available online. Most of them are in 1080p/2160p, i'd Spline36Resize it do video resolution and then overlay.
avatar
Supposing the grain plate I want (as a general rule, same stock as used for the film being restored) isn't available at the size I want, what settings would you recommend for the GrainFactory3 plugin?
avatar
avatar
Jeez RIP Chris Cornell
avatar
Avoid fake grain; find real 35mm grain plates instead - there are some free!
avatar
Test: Predator Ultimate Hunter... Big Grin
avatar
I'm not yet sure what to use for testing and comparison purposes, though.
avatar
I might use it for my projects, depending on how well it works.
avatar
Found a nifty DIY grain script: http://avisynth.nl/index.php/GrainFactory3
avatar
avatar
And Manhunter... I'm so jealous. And ID4 on July 4th on 35mm... I wish they had shown me THAT when I went to see "Resurgence"!
avatar
I'm tempted to go to one of the 70mm Aliens screening. I'd also love to go the the Mann-a-thon to see The Keep
avatar
avatar
Search on ebay for Alien 35mm Slide. I wonder where these originated from.
avatar
Stop making me spend money!
avatar
Phenomina Limited Edition: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Phenomena-Limit...06WGSDG22/ - I just bought mine!
avatar
To the Britons - Alien is playing in 70mm in London in June, details here: https://princecharlescinema.com/PrinceCh...?f=2329841

Another legend leaves us. RIP

RIP Powers Boothe. A favorite character actor of mine. Wolverines!

Lol that was awesome!

Rick and Morty encounter Xenomorphs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BirGJS23Nfo&t=0s
avatar
Thanks for the heads-up on their new release! Grab the new manual, too. I hope they improved the interface (you know, like for a video game -- easy to learn).
avatar
Anyway, regarding the new public beta of DaVinci Resolve, Resolve 14, would laptops be able to do more than with Resolve 12.5? Or would I still need a desktop for color grading purposes?
avatar
I swear by ffmpeg. Not really an AIO solution to anything, but, hey, better than freaking codec packs.
avatar
Actually. What Poita said. I was just trying to be nice. My experiences with codec packs have left me with the feeling that codec packs should be avoided. I use ffmpeg once in a great while but it's portable and doesn't affect the whole system.
avatar
LOL! Just read those extra pages and found someone familiar! ... Never mind ... Big Grin
avatar
@ AntcuFaalb - Google brought up http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Blade-R...34/page/17 . (Looks like OT keeps losing it's posters w info. Still, read a few pages for leads.)
avatar
Semms as if it is something like multiple Anti Virus Softwares... Smile
avatar
Absolutely do not install codec packs, nothing but trouble really.
avatar
Mhm.. very valid argument.. due to the fact that the PC is not for.. deep encoding.. maybe a DVD I own for use on my mobile phone or a networked media tank.. but no really heavy encoding.
avatar
I'd say not until you find yourself needing it. For playback just use vlc. I currently have only lags and x264/x265 installed for capturing and encoding etc.
avatar
So... new PC... should I install a codec pack.. or not?
avatar
I did, but not as much as some of the other alien films. AC is way better than Prometheus!
avatar
Did you like Prometheus Valeyard?
avatar
I just saw Alien Covenant ... WOW, incredible! Highly reccomended.
avatar
RIP Michael Parks
avatar
i think it's gone the way of the dodo. Aside from the older color-timing, which can be found on the early DVDs, I don't remember anything special about it.
avatar
Does anyone here have the 15GB or so 1080i broadcast capture of Blade Runner from 2006?
avatar
Didn't help that it was a double-sided disc.
avatar
Worse, it wasn't as obvious to me as the 2002 release of My Fellow Americans in 1997 packaging turned out to be, even when I looked at the physical disc's inner ring after the fact.
avatar
See, the DVD I got... it's a 1999 release in 1997 packaging.
avatar
OK, the actual master dates and times for the 1997 DVD of Bonnie and Clyde, both fullscreen and widescreen sides, are gonna be needed real soon from someone, because now I'm trying to figure out what the actual first WB DVD releases were, and Bonnie and Clyde is sometimes said to be one of the first.
avatar
That's sad Sad. I was excited to see it but the reviews are all over the place
avatar
saw it yesterday in Oz. It was a bit disappointing
avatar
Just to let you American fellow to know that yesterday Alien Covenant has been released in the Italian theaters... Tongue hope to watch it today! Ok
avatar
avatar
Happy to see you around here again, poita... sorry for everything happened lately, hope future will be brighter.
avatar
Sorry for everyone waiting on replies from me, my VDSL modem has died, I'm looking to buy a replacement, restricted to free internet at the town library at the moment!
avatar
^ ^ ^ Definitely, do NOT try to think through that whole Smurfs thing. :-O
avatar
What!? What the smurf are you talking about!?
avatar
"oh... Yeah... Give me the smurfs..."
avatar
Somehow... This sounds... naughty... Big Grin
avatar
I can't wait to get 53GB full of Smurfs... Tongue Tongue Tongue
avatar
I don't think AACS2 has been cracked. It was probably leaked by someone who handled the disc before it was encrypted for retail.
avatar
It's the only 4K-compatible gaming computer I could find at my local Best Buy (both of them), anyway.
avatar
I say it's about time! OK! Time to consider getting an Alienware Aurora as our next restoration PC!
avatar
Thanks Chew
avatar
Given what I've read, I'm fairly sure it's been cracked. I'm curious to see how it works too. I think the file structure is similar to BD.
avatar
Might be, might be an exploit for that disc only.
avatar
No one is talking yet
