Usually Arrow release a standard release once the limited edition has sold out
avatar
French members and members from Quebec, I need your oreilles here -> https://forum.fanres.com/thread-1483-page-2.html
avatar
Speaking of Arrow, anybody bought the House quadrilogy set from Arrow? I'm bummed out that it was sold out and they are not gonna re-print it
avatar
No, the discs should be 23.976fps. There might be some 25fps extras.
avatar
Are all Arrow releases PAL?
avatar
It's crashed the Arrow website and amazon have apparently sold out!
avatar
Arrow's just announced John Carpenter's The Thing will be released october. Pre-ordered Smile
avatar
Big Grin
avatar
This was for the most part entirely true lol. Otherwise, a lovely country Smile.
avatar
The first thing I learned about Germany when I went there was somebody said to me, "A stau is a traffic jam except it's so bad you want to commit suicide when you see one".
avatar
And.. while thinking stereotypic: "German Autobahn.. if you want to feel slow moving at leisurly traveling 150 km per hour..."
avatar
And.. hey.. I am German.. I know how to start a riot or drinking bout... Smile
avatar
we have different points of view.. yeah, but nobody started to insult someone just because of the point of view.. or heritage.. or alcohol preferences. Smile
avatar
@PDB: I would say that was a quite friendly discussion...
avatar
And of course, PDB, this is a friendly discussion, we are not cursing, capsing, or anything
avatar
It's not that I'm afraid of though, we are a bit paranoid in Israel.
avatar
Guys, remember we are friends here.
avatar
End of May I was in BErlin a week.. I did not get robbed, stabbed, killed or harmed in any way...
avatar
Me and a friend are looking over capitals to spend a weekend in after the exams, and we can't find anywhere that's safe and fun
avatar
Hamburg looked like freaking Mogadishu or Aleppo
avatar
A building is one thing, but they took over the streets
avatar
I mean, it's the middle of the summer, and they want to make it a pool party, come on...
avatar
the building that was stormed, where the rioters where getting up to.. the police had the keys to that building, and the permittance of the owner to enter it... some days before the riot...
avatar
Well, that's a different problem, water cannons really are not the best way to handle thousands of violent protestors
avatar
You can make police accountable and still functioning
avatar
But the police should get a better supply and organisation... because that's a big problem...
avatar
Oh, I'm not saying you should, I'm saying the laws can be mended and giving the police some leeway to use common sense
avatar
just the way you guys are bud, you've had your ass handed to you twice in the last hundred years and your are still the most powerful nation in mainland europe, you have resolve, clarity of thought and purpose, a powerhouse race
avatar
as I said, I am againt putting police force above the law.. because that may end even more desatrous...
avatar
Yeah.. but germany only can have extremes.. I think we will never find the middle way...
avatar
They are self claimed anarcho-communists, they don't care about private property (evidenced by the destruction of cars) and they oppose any sort of government (evidenced by the timing, it's not the G20, Trump or Putin, it's the rule of law)
avatar
They are anti fascist like the democratic republic of Korea is a democracy...
avatar
On the other hand.. yeah, I think the aggressive antifascists are a problem.. first of all.. they use similar methods as a fascistic regime would use.. some of them may have a good intention fighting racism and facism... but I think there are better ways, than violence...
avatar
it's not about being blind, they are being realists, they serve the powerful, when the police arent sufficient enough deterent the powerful always call in their military, that in itself is a guised threat, do what we tell you or else, society dont have too many ways of outgunning that threat, well there is one, but certainly not something you talk about online
avatar
the problem is, that I started to believe that the german police force is in some areas.. (not all, but enough) blind on the right side...
avatar
if i understood your post correctly mrbrown, that is not technically the police's fault, that is the fault of the society they work in, of course they are the politicians heavies, that is exactly their role as is the justice system, why so many normal people are in jail, but very few of the powerful people ever see it, regardless to what they do
avatar
Since my parents came from the soviet union, I know from first hand witnesses what it's like to have a police force that serves a dictatorship, I would obviously not think the same way, but I believe a compromise must be found
avatar
Would you think the same way, if you would come to believe that a police force is somebit blind on on political eye?
avatar
We still have leftists professors, we just know how to take their views into consideration and not just accept them as facts
avatar
And also after we take time of life to travel, work...
avatar
In Israel, because of compulsory military service, we start our BA at about 22-24, not 18
avatar
I think some of the blame should go to western universities, you have leftists preaching to students who are too young to know better
avatar
it's just another term that has appeared over the ages to make the mere mortals feel more important about themselves, so the illusion can be maintained
avatar
balance of power is a logical fallacy, it doesnt exist, never has done, the most powerful always do exactly what they want to
avatar
Of course, but even if it isn't daily, just hoping to ride it out won't always work, there has to be some common sense involved
avatar
I think it is more important to have a balance in power... such acts of power are not a daily thing.. while police is a daily existing force...
avatar
That may be, but as long as the citizens won't realize times are changing, they'll never work. It was always up for the people to make the government realize that, and I'm very much against it being the other way around
avatar
but to give the yanks their due, they are not entirely stupid, they do dangle your country as bait, they know you are their queen piece on the board
avatar
since the war on terror started most of the western nations involved in that are using protocols your lot developed decades ago, you always had a security first process which makes sense
avatar
We started by calling a spade a spade. Islamic terrorism. You have that too, and the anarchists, yet the citizens are so tranquil and complacent, I'm afraid I'll never get it. Nostalgia and hope of returning to the good old days?
avatar
We adapted out policies, it keeps us safe, but there are always slips, I'm not saying there aren't any, but at least we try
avatar
And the governments refuse to adapt to modern times, you can't have a home policy from the 70's and expect it to work today
avatar
Well, that's the problem with the police, it doesn't deter, and the cops are paying the price
avatar
mrbrown, i think the point is the only time escalation makes sense is when you take it to a level where the other side no longer wants to play, anything less than that is just colored bubbles
avatar
That's why they fail, and because we normally act in self defence, with a very clear goal of repelling the enemy, we succeed
avatar
The thing is, America isn't trying to make them surrender, they always have a longer game, it's never about the actual country they invade
avatar
I don't think that the police force should have been harsher.. or it may even had more escalated.. but the law enforcement on the aggressive agressors may be better... some of the people throwing stones are already free, because the paperwork was not done in time...
avatar
no way in hell could America get 5 countries in the middle east to simultaneously surrender within a week
avatar
It wasn't always like that. Until the early 80's, our security measures were a lot lighter
avatar
yes, but you guys are next level, have been since your country was formed and with very good reason
avatar
I agree with you on that. When I read the RNT's new security policy which was described as "Enhanced", I chuckled a bit because that security measure is standard procedure here, and the people know it
avatar
as opposed to realistic pragmatists
avatar
because if so that explains the way you think, just doubt many europeans will understand that viewpoint, most are optimistic pacifists
avatar
Yeah, you did
avatar
nir, did i catch you correctly earlier when you said you are from Israel?
avatar
Laws can be mended. The government is worried about popularity, and having the police use violence reflects badly on it. But the fact that everything is live streamed today goes both ways. When people are violent towards the police, it's common sense to use violence against them
avatar
The problem is tht putting some force above the law may bring problems afterwards in controlling that force...
avatar
Europe as a whole has been too lenient on terrorism and violence, it's a real shame, as we used to look up to it
avatar
My point is that the protestors know they won't be harmed, but if this was 30 years ago, they wouldn't dare even speak up
avatar
This goes beyond peaceful political opposition. While I agree that shutting down protests is anti democratic, it's not a very fine line between peaceful protests and violent riots. German police should know better, and the German government should not be afraid to meet violence with harsher violence
avatar
Is that really a good thing when political oppositions are forced down that aggressively? Yeah, theanarchist riots are extrme dumb.. also don't think that the big part of these anarchists are really political interested.. they were just interested in making chaos an mayhem...
avatar
To say nothing of the strict control in the east...
avatar
I meant before the wall fell, when communist leaning protestors in the west were met with brute force.
avatar
Well the last week, I was somewhere else... not in Hamburg... Smile
avatar
search for 'Rostock-Lichtenhagen' August 92 ... and how pityful the police forces rected...
avatar
30 Years ago it was not thus different...
avatar
We have been following with some interest, it's absurd that the police has no deterring power against those anarchists. If this was 30 years ago....
avatar
For some cars in Hamburg this was quite literally in the last days...
avatar
Well, it may not be very hot in Germany weather wise, but politically, you're on fire! Smile
avatar
well... I think GErmany is quite cool today.. about 20 °C ... yesterday it rained...
avatar
We're having a heatwave, a tropical heatwave! Oh, the temperature's rising, it isn't surprising, they certainly can, can-can!
avatar
Israel's hot too, 36 degrees here, won't cool down to 31 for 4 more days...
avatar
We are literally melting here, as ice creams dropped on the hot asphalt, with temperatures near (if not above) 40°C... what's about you?
avatar
I have it on my HDD already Tongue
avatar
avatar
Got it. Thanks!
avatar
^panel displays in general
avatar
Has anyone looked at Sony's 1080p 10-bit HDR sets?
avatar
^ Do you mean flat as opposed to curved or just TV screens in general (as opposed to projectors)?
avatar
On flatscreens the main benefit of UHD is 10bit colour
avatar
I don't think 4k is effective at 43" anyway, I think it's best at 55" and bigger.
avatar
I actually got myself a 1080 one Smile I don't really see the point of 4K when it comes to home media. Plus, the goal was to get something cheap Tongue
avatar
4k?
avatar
It's funny you said that because my 32" TV is dying and I just ordered a brand new 43" one Big Grin
avatar
too bad my TV is only 32 inches in "size" Smile
avatar
...bought them at a quite low price for the sets with one year in time differences...
avatar
My Sound System is build from two different, but still quite similar 5.1 systems from the same manufacturer... my receiver is 7.2 capable... so I can choose between 5 identical front, two dipole on the sides, 2 subs or the other setup: 3 irntical front, twi dipole sides, two in the backs a bit smaller than the front together with the two subs...
avatar
Sweet, I've always wanted twin subs
avatar
Two.. one with 300 Watt normal and short term up to 600 Watt, the other one 350 Watt normal power with short term up to 700 Watt
