Glasses free will be some variation of lenticular screen
avatar
And giant freaking tv's is hardly a new idea. Wink https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumbotron
avatar
I would think glasses free 3D at theaters is going to be a giant monitor of some sort. It's what Cameron wants ready when Avatar 2 finally comes out.
avatar
Cinema will never truly die.
avatar
The price of these big TVs is going to be very prohibitive. I think this installation is a publicity stunt for samsung
avatar
At least Tarantino and Nolan are trying to keep 70mm alive and kicking. Wish I could afford to go see Dunkirk on film. The preview I saw in front of Rogue One when I saw it in 70mm IMAX was stunning.
avatar
Seriously... things are going down and down. Cinema is dying. 35mm was the real deal. The digital era is killing the movie industry.
avatar
Woohoo! I had that odd feeling already being in a cinema and watching a DCP... it felt like I was home watching a movie on my TV. Now I guess it's definitely going to be like watching your freaking TV! I don't wanna pay almost the price of a Blu-ray disc to see the same stuff without having the possibility of setting the volume...
avatar
It's a big telly

Now that I've had a chance to think about it some, whatever happens, happens. The places I might care about made it clear they don't care about me so there is really nothing I can do. Why waste the positive energy on it when it can be put towards better things.
avatar
avatar
I sent my recommendations to Myspleen admin on this so it's in their hands now.
avatar
Caring about a site can make one a "loose end" I guess.
avatar
It would be in their best interest as a site to protect themselves even if the ban of invites is temporary until this gets solved but what do I know. Sad
avatar
re: Jay (at OT) - "We ❤️ Star Wars and give it all the moneys. Please don't sue us." Big Grin
avatar
harmy's star wars were on ipt before as well, havent used that site in around 10 months, but everything leaks to there
avatar
Although a certain paradoxical site seems to have vanished of late.
avatar
Besides, kicking a hornet's nest is not a good idea -- they sting EVERYTHING in the area. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink?
avatar
You can download Harmy's DSE via rar links accessible from his facebook page.
avatar
I'm going to talk with the myspleen admin. Maybe they will put a temporary closure on new members coming in for the time being.
avatar
As far as I know, Harmy does not condone the selling of his versions, I would think NJVC feels the same. Whomever it is, is printing the discs and all the artwork to boot, but it doesn't justify stealing either way. I'd bet it was someone who went to OT.com begging for a myspleen invite. If Jay is the admin he says he is, he'd stop the flow of invites out of OT immediately until further notice.
avatar
Aw, guys? Cut'em some slack. Defense lawyers are expensive at half the price! For a mere 30 songs, "Jury orders student to pay $675,000 for illegally downloading music" http://abcnews.go.com/Business/story?id=8226751 Multiply that by the biggest block-buster franchise of movies ever and those guys should double/triple their Buy-It-Now's. Big Grin
avatar
don't know if the piracy ads at the start of original copies have changed much in the USA, but they used to have a thing in that screen that said piracy funds terrorism, so they have had the outlet to bring in the big guns againsus the whole time, military intelligence and there is nothing any of us can do to stop them locating us, they are the system, vpn's and all that crap are worthless against them
avatar
yes, absolutely, I think it is getting towards that time anyway, when the uploaders should be at least thinking seriously about whether they should be risking this for too much longer, if at all, the curtains are beginning to close, which was always inevitable, they were always going to win if they started to try to win, they outgun us, pure and simple
avatar
My rage is not regarding the law breaking part... More the possible consequences... And with money involved these consequences may come faster...
avatar
Also, thus sellers may even bring project makers to stop sharing finished projects, if they have to fear finding them on eBay...
avatar
dont get me wrong MrBrown, I am not in favor of or defending the actions of the people selling this stuff, I think it sucks, but we all know what we do here, we are breaking the law(s) of various countries, so it is a tad hypocrytical when we start pointing fingers at others breaking the law in different ways
avatar
surprised the CEO of Disney doesnt want to own ebay, would be rather easy for them to sue them into the floor if there is more than one count
avatar
Just that it is not a new thing it doesn't make it any better... Calculate it that way: The person sells 12 burned and printed discs 8 printed sheets of paper, 5 BluRay cases for 190 usd. Let's say his material costs are about... 20-30 usd... His time spending: 6 hours (he may print and cut the papers while burning the discs...) so... He makes about 160 dollars per 6 hours of work... Most of it waiting until the burning process finished... That's roughly 25 usd per hour... How much of that does go to the ones who spend time into the realization of the project in the first place? 0. They just get the trouble if the companies start to pursue...
avatar
lol, hadnt thought of that, ebay complicit in piracy ... lmfao
avatar
Plus eBay makes money from fees
avatar
On the other hands the eBay sellers are making kind of much money for stuff people may find for free, or the real price of the discs and boxes...
avatar
and the ebay thing isnt new, been people doing that for years now, how that Ghostface dude buys some of his workprints off memory
avatar
the personal purposes argument doesnt work when it is released to the masses though, I do get your point, but honestly, between the 2 I would be more worried about The Guardian, they are heat seeking missiles when they think they have a story and always play the devils advocate, one day they side with you, the next they are trying to take you out
avatar
Difference: at eBay someone is making money with it. That may alert companies more than a review regarding some nerds, trying to regrade for personal purposes...
avatar
they were challenging Disney to release regrades of Star Wars, because the reporter liked yours, thought that was incredibly funny, an admission of piracy in an international newspaper, one of the biggest in 2 markets, USA and UK, which bizarrely also happen to be the 2 most aggressive nations against pirates and acts of piracy
avatar
don't you guys know about the review of the 2 Star Wars, Harmy's and MrNiceGuy's I think it was in The Guardian newspaper, talk about spotlight, when I saw it I didnt know whether to laugh or go eek, mentioned a few of you by name
avatar
Oddly enough they mention a few OT.com members that participated in different aspects right in the description. That can't be good. It looks like the DE stuff that came from the Spleen.
avatar
Reading his intro text to the "offer" I want to... *angry*
avatar
Mhm... 12 discs? Damn... Seems if I did not find the complete set, yet...
avatar
$190 does seem alittle more than just covering resources?
avatar
avatar
They're getting around $200 per set they sell.
avatar
Just look for someone selling despecialized on Ebay.
avatar
WTF. Any more info?
avatar
It's really out of order
avatar
WTF? Such an a...
avatar
That someone has made over $4000 selling Harmy's work on Ebay makes me want to rip arms out of sockets. Angry

avatar
In case you were wondering if anybody was still using Betamax as a recording format in 2017. Wink http://amp.sfist.com/amp/articles/create...0001811cd8
avatar
Ah, yes.
avatar
No. That was someone else.
avatar
Wasn't he the one who's daughter was killed?
avatar
Nothing is up. He hasn't been on here in a month and not replied to pm's from me since March. Just wanted to keep in touch.
avatar
Thanks Jetrell! Smile
avatar
I just sent him a note that you're looking for him.
avatar
Maybe not.
avatar
What's up Wook? I can contact him.
avatar
Ok. Can anyone get a message to him on there?

MS?
avatar
He seems to be still active on MS.
avatar
You don't suppose...?
avatar
Anyone heard from Chris Solo lately?
avatar
For the 3D Version there seem to be a Steelbook with the new cover Art.
avatar
I really like the new cover art for this 4K release.
avatar
seems as if UK version is the same as the German one.. both are from StudioCanal...
avatar
Does anyone know who's produced this new T2 mix, was Rydstrom involved?
avatar
For Germany only DTS-MA is announced.
avatar
avatar
BTW T2 is in DTS X instead of Atmos for the US
avatar
New confirmation that Spielberg directed Poltergeist: http://www.blumhouse.com/2017/07/14/conf...ltergeist/
avatar
I don't think they are remixing in atmos
avatar
overall i mean
avatar
well if their dts headphone x track is anything to go by, Atmos would probably be a bad fit, DTS X would stand a better chance but only in full spec cinemas, certain sound effects came off very well in that headphone x track, but it had distance problems and sounded wrong
avatar
I would wonder, if they do. I fear they just recycle the existing tracks...
avatar
it's going to take a huge amount of work to remaster that properly to object based if they try to do that
avatar
It will be interesting to hear how T2 sounds in the theatre when it is rereleased, after all it won the academy award for its sound
avatar
in our world it is usually known as the v99 copy, in case you are interested
avatar
the lionsgate version is the best of Terminator 2 so far and has a naughty DTS Heaphone X track on it too, though that score isnt the best show off of it's talents, the bone breaks made me cringe though, felt like it was happening a few feet away
avatar
Somehow I assume the audio will be the same as the BD and HD-DVD...
avatar
The German edition has 7.1 German audio announced, but just 5.1 English audio... Has the US version English 7.1?
avatar
But... I was a bit bummed by the sky net skull edition... The skull looked a bit cheap...
avatar
179 USD... According to the video.
avatar
Euro 149 for that Arm is not that expensive, if the arm is done well...
avatar
As Tax-Free Weekend approaches, I'm going to start up a thread on restoration essentials.
avatar
That's cool, bet it costs an arm and a leg...
