As far as video game movies go, I'll take SMB over ANY of the Resident Evil films. And MK '95 still reigns supreme as the best video game movie imo

Who knew the original Rancor was an ape: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DO6pdxHXi3o
avatar
Nice to see everyone's new projects coming along. Didn't plan on taking a break from Fanres but work picked up and life got in the way.
avatar
Despite being a stinker of a movie, I do love how dedicated the fans are. And the SMB Archive website reminds me of the good old days of the web. I do own the BD and watched it last year and was tough to get through but I still have nostalgia for it. Must watch the extended version soon
avatar
I don't mind watching VHS rips at all but they went a little far in "restoring" some scenes with the filter and looks horrible in motion. Also is the aspect ratio wrong on the video? I think a 4:3 flag on the container is needed to correct it.
avatar
SMB and HL2 do have the commonality of coming up with a gonzo concept and running hard with them. I do appreciate that Smile
avatar
@zoidberg As someone who has spent far too much of their spare time on Highlander 2 I think it's fair to say that I can appreciate a hot mess Smile
avatar
Im pretty certain SMB was never at any point of its production anything but a flaming hot mess. Its hardwired into its DNA
avatar
@PDB Yeah, the extended version is a better film, but it's still not a good film. The effort of the fans to find and restore this though is utterly incredible! They get my full respect Smile
avatar
Congrats @MrBrown. @HippieDalek Its more the movie itself than the quality of the video Wink. Honestly the extended is better than what we got,,,
avatar
@PDB I could handle the poor visual quality...but even in this extended version the quality of the film itself was pretty hard to watch.
avatar
Well.. "new" PC starts getting set up... Still many applications not installed, but it makes a solid impression... 4th gen i7, 32GB Ram, GeForce gtx 980 Titan, 4TB HDD for data... 500gb hdd for system...
avatar
@HippieDalek Started to watch it but, man, it a hard watch.
avatar
So what are people's thoughts on the Super Mario Bros. Extended Work Print? https://archive.org/details/super-mario-...tended-vhs

Tomorrow I get a new (used) PC. Then I'll see what data I can salvage from the old one. Hope HDD didn't got wrecked when the former PC died... I'll think I might getting it ready to go at the weekend.
avatar
No luck fixing it. Power supply is like an laptop one. So the small plug is on the Mainboard itself. And a new external power supply was tested.. So the problem is either on the mainboard..
avatar
Good luck with fixing it MrBrown
avatar
sounds like a bad power supply

Hello everyone, i just wonder... How can i download a remastered movie in this site?

This might be a long shot, but do we have any users here in or around LA who can transfer 35mm magnetic audio? (SepMag/Sound Follower)

So, lets wait for the Ewok Ride Advertisements in the "Disney Death Star" Amusement Park in Episode 6 in Palpatines Throne Room...

I remember the time when Aladdin was supposed to be the unnecessary remake and that TLK would be unnecessary, but epic (At least the first teaser promised as much). While Aladdin was indeed unnecessary, it had its moments, but boy, was TLK straight up BAD...
avatar
Man if you watch the original clip it seems even worse still!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jQIIXuhsC8
avatar
Look at the comments under "Disney : Let's make these animals speak and sing but don't put any facial expression on them because we're gonna make it more realistic..."

Wow, it's even worse than I imagined! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MxulhivCvI

That means only Dallas, Lambert and Ripley are left of the original Nostromo crew.

Just finished watching From Dusk Till Dawn, the UK blu ray. Have to say the video wasn't very impressive but the audio sounded really bad. Muffled and quite, plus it looked out of sync at times. I thought it was something up with my setup at first but parts are in sync and parts seemed out. Anyone ever watched the LD and if so how did that sound? I've read about a 4k remaster but not sure if that is for UHD or streaming.
avatar
Sometimes I think Blackmagic doesn't want Resolve users to save and reopen projects to work on later, heh.
avatar
@pipefan413, nothing too serious for most users, but I can't correct the aspect ratio of anamorphic frames without also cropping them. Means I can't render and process any new frames until it's fixed. I haven't lost any files though so it's just a pause in my work rather than a catastrophe.
avatar
Oh god, what's up like? @HippieDalek
avatar
For anyone using Davinci Resolve I'd advise against upgrading to 17.1. If you do upgrade make sure you backup your database first. It's looking like I'll have to park my 35mm work until Black Magic fix some issues and release a new version.
avatar
nice! good timing with the UHD coming

Sweet thanks

and it's in HD too Wink

I doubt there will be many people currently trying to encode 10-bit raw uncompressed analogue video captures to FFV1 but it appears that 2-pass mode is completely broken for anything that's more than 8-bit and I've just wasted like 2 days trying to figure out why before finally finding that it's a bug reported 5 years ago that still isn't fixed: https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/5405

Thanks.

Hi, someone from Poland, who might help me buy a specific DVD Release from a polish used item marketplace, receive the disc, and then could ship it to Germany? Every seller either says they dont ship internationally, or even did not answer. Sad
avatar
Hello. Thank you for all the information on this site.
avatar
I think that's a great idea, especially helpful when trying to track down a certain release that has something special about it.
avatar
Maybe we start to collect country specific 2nd hand market places in a thread...
avatar
Nice... Huuto.net is the Finnish 2nd hand market place... Signing up there was a pain, because it did not work with German phone number... I had to contact service of that page and they helped me...
avatar
Thanks again for your offer of help Mr Brown. I found a Norwegian marketplace in the past that someone helped me out with as you had to live in certain parts of Europe, can't remember the name of that one though. Also I have used https://en.todocoleccion.net/ several times for Spanish second hand stuff
avatar
Oh yeah, especially when looking in countries wher epeople do not use eBay that much, and rely more on local 2nd Hand Places. Often they are not even translated. But after successfully using a finnish languaged marketplace, the netherland marketplace feels kind of easy.. and I speak neither finnish nor dutch, whild knowing german and english helps with the dutch a bit... (but not with finnish at all)
avatar
It's always nice to find a new treasure trove
avatar
Bot foremost: Thanks for the hint to that netherland 2nd Hand Marketplace. I always love to check 2nd Hand places in different countries for intersting stuff, that people dont put at ebay. Like I got John Woo Film DVDs from Finland on a finnish 2nd Hand marketplace. Big Grin
avatar
I jump in to help. I am not from Netherlands, but close enough to help. everything in PM, but we do not need multiple people now to chime in. Smile
avatar
Do we have any members in The Netherlands? I am trying to buy a DVD from Marktplaats but it won't let me register as I'm in the UK. I would cover all costs if anyone could buy it and rip it for me?
avatar
aw, looks like that's no longer the case
avatar
Folks, Blutopia currently have open applications, in case anyone's interested.
avatar
Jesus, really @alleycat? It's a funny old world we live in...

Fighting fantasy rings a bell, never had any though. Nostalgia's one hell of a drug

@Hitcher Yeah some of the later issues (50+) have gone for £150-200 each! They retailed for £3.99 Smile
