I've seen some UHD movies appear on the internet. Took me by surprise, I didn't even know players are already available.
Does anyone here have a player + a 4K TV? How's HDR for the movies that have it?
I've seen some 4K files on the internet, but I think they primarily come from streaming services. To my knowledge, ripping UHD BDs isn't possible yet.
I think you're right, from what I see AACS 2.0 is still not cracked. The files I've seen are x265 encodes - big ones, but probably captured and recompressed using some weird method, not normal disc rips.
But never mind that - has anyone from this forum watched a movie on proper UHD Blu-ray?
I preordered 2 upcoming UHD releases, but I have no player or capable computer... So they are just for collecting issues at the moment.

I'm bummed that the new 4K PS4 model doesn't have UHD BD support (seriously, what the hell is Sony thinking?). Basically, my only 4K options ATM is either Netflix or playing 4K files through the USB port on my TV.
New Xbox will have it though and apparently the prices will start at $300.
AFAIK UHD-BD could be ripped - at least, I've seen a lot of those claimed rips around, so it *could* sound real...
They are made using 4K cap cards and hdcp strippers
So, technically they are more "UHDBDcap" than "UHDBDrip" - re-encoded anyway...
What's about those huge 100+GB webdl I see around? Are they "real things", or just captures as well?
