Terminator 2 Japanese DVD CDS Mix

Hi guys, was it ever proven that the original 5.1 CDS mix was released in Japan on DVD in DTS in the early days before the 6.1 rehash or was it an urban myth?

There was a big discussion at OT, but I don't remember the conclusion. I do not remember, if the question was solved in the thread, at all.
At least it was supreme to the normal DTS tracks, because it was a full bitrate track.

I guess the best we have is still the 384Kb/s AC3 from the Live DVD and the PCM laserdisc tracks, which to be fair are very nice. I've tried hunting down the Japanese DVD to no avail, seems to be pretty elusive and those who have it aren't letting on about it's content/quality.

I only know that it sounds quite good on my sound system, but I can not tell if it is the CDS Mix.... Because I have not such a fine hearing and knowledge of the differences.

Yeah, I have the slipcased PIBF-91219 release.

I would be interested in hearing that track. At some point I would like to create a custom CDS version of Terminator 2 using either the new Lionsgate remastered blu or the UK Optimum blu which many maintain has the best picture quality.

The new Lionsgate and the UK are quite similar quality wise. One of them is either a bit stretched, or the other is a bit squeezed, I cannot tell.

I think every HD release comes from the same 2K telecine that was done close to 15 years ago, am I right? I don't believe there has been a new transfer/scan of T2 since the Extreme DVD...
