Superman 2 longer version on Vudu

22 Replies, 17086 Views

Check this out, apparently the cut of Superman 2 on Vudu is 6 minutes longer and has the deleted scene where Non kills a boy in tact, and in widescreen.

Is anyone able to grab this?
So it's effectively a longer version of the theatrical cut. We definitely need to grab this somehow.

No, it's the Donner Cut. Weird that it's Lester stuff added in, but more in line with the RIC than the theatrical.

Yeah, this definitely needs grabbing.

That is weird. You'd think that Lester material would be be added to the Lester cut. Thanks for the clarification!

I know right, especially with Donner stating in interviews that he hates the stuff they did with the villains in the small town, and the Donner Cut doing it's best to chop as much of it out as possible. I'm glad that it's there though, whatever the reasoning behind it. Since we've only ever seen parts of this in widescreen in the "Look in the Sky" documentary, I'm eager to check it out.
Wow, wonder what other alternate footage is in there. Very interesting find.
It's now available on the Spleen.
Is this another case of someone grabbing the wrong video master off the shelf?

It's being thought that this may have been the second to last version before Donner had the kid being killed and souffle scenes removed for the final cut. He's been vocal about not liking these scenes in interviews and the commentary. I can see Thau putting together a provisional cut, before Donner came in to add his input and sign off on putting his name to it.

Awesome work! (If this is an example of using the wrong master, I wish it would happen more often.) I've long thought about making my own version of Superman II and hope that there is something here that is useful.

EDIT: One can demux the video and audio with eac3to. After the audio is demuxed, run it back through eac3to in order to decode it.
