Not every cinema can play back the 6 channel mix; those that lack the 5 channels behind the screen usually opt for the 5.1 remix.

This new version is supposed to have the original mix on dts discs in 5.1. Six track audio with the five front screen channels can be properly placed in 5.1 or 7.1 codecs with no problem as you can properly mix for phantom imaging for commercial and home theaters that do not have five screen channels across the front. 5.1 =/= 6 channel 

The cinemas that do not have the 5 screen channels are mostly opting for the 5.1 remix, the cinemas that do have the 5 screen channels are mostly opting for the original 6 channel mix. That's all there is to it.

I am seeing the new 70mm at the Castro, and intermission just started. It basically looks identical to the last two prints I saw. ... the colors are the same as the last two prints I saw which were also struck from a circa 1999-2000 element. ... all match between the Cinematheque print I saw in 2016, the c.2001 print I saw at the Castro last year, and the new one.

I am not saying this is accurate to 1968, but it is accurate to the timing I've seen on other 70mm prints from the last 15-20 years.

Reading through this, I initially inferred that they gave it a teal cast deliberately. So... they left it untouched?

Went to the 72 minute mark on the film which shows the astronaut going thru a white corridor. On the Blu-ray it is a white color but on the 4K it has a slight beige color?

UHD looks fantastic. It’s the closest to the original print on home video yet, by far. I saw two different 70mm original prints, as well as the Nolan print. All three were practically identical. Comparing them to the UHD, UHD lacks a bit of the yellow warmth. That’s probably due to the 5500K-5800K projection xenon arc lamp. But it’s close. Setting the TV to the warmest setting pretty much nails the original look. Great release!
