Disco's HDTV Caps list

23 Replies, 16132 Views

After having done some HDTV caps for the SW community I would like to contribute some work here in this forum, sharing caps for preservation or restoration purposes. Especially spoRv's thread about the importance of HDTV recordings made me want to do this.
I’m able to do bit-perfect TS caps from a variety of 24h movie channels like sky and TNT.
The caps are 1080/25p or 720/50p H.264/MPEG-4 AVC with german and english (where available) audio tracks in DD 5.1 and/or 2.0.
My caps are done completely random, whatever on the EPG gets my attention or has something like „Extended Cut“ in the description will be recorded.

UPDATE: The majority of all releases being produced since the beginning of the BluRay era use the same master for HDTV releases. Especially broadcasters like sky air BR masters in OAR. Capping those movies in most of the cases is a waste of time and resources, since the cap is identical to the BR release.
Accordingly I will concentrate on capping movies produced before 2008, the beginning of the BR era.
Special recording requests are still welcome.

If you are interested in one or several caps, PM me.

Here is my actual list (updates will come in very soon):

That's great! Ok

If you may add to the list if a certain title is localized (e.g. German title, credits, eventual subtitles) it would be perfect!
Sadly my projects are lost due to an HDD crash... Sad

If you go to this link you should get an overview of sky's EPG (you can set the filter to "Filme" to narrow the selection):

SKY Programm Guide

I can record all sky HD movie channels and therefore of course Action HD.
There are some minor problems with Cinema Hits from time to time, where bit stream errors may corrupt the stream for a couple of frames. But the other HD channels are totally fine.

I would be interested in the following, if they are open matte:

Doctor Strange
The First Avenger: Civil War
Passengers
Underworld: Blood Wars (and also EP3 and EP4 of the same saga)
X-Men: Apocalypse (and also other films of the same saga)

and, in general, in any sci-fi, action, fantasy, horror movie in open matte that is not available on BD, but possibly available on WEBdl; this is because the latter version has usually a low video bitrate, while the HDTV has an higher one; the WEBdl would be useful to remove the TV logo, retaining its details.

Unfortunately it seems that with sky we are out of luck for Open Matte caps.
I just capped Doctor Strange and it's widescreen as most other sky caps are (only From Dusk Till Dawn seems to be Open Matte).

SKY TV is almost always always OAR spoRv.
If you ever see "Felidae" or "Dear Wendy", those'd be great. Have never been released on Blu Ray or any HD form afaik, but maybe they'll air them in higher than DVD resolution some day. Even if it's an upscale, it may profit from higher chroma resolution if the source is 4:4:4. For example the Felidae intro titles are dark red on black background, a true test for the chroma that the DVD spectacularly fails.

Also other movies by German director Michael Schaak, most of them animated. For example the Werner series (in particular the first one, "Beinhart") and "Kleines Arschloch". Not released in HD either (only the newest Kleines Arschloch has, but I mean the original one).

The movie "Abwaerts" perhaps. Has a Blu Ray planned apparently, but no release date yet.

The German Otto movies, which have also never been released in HD to my knowledge.

The "Erkan & Stefan" movies, also not released in HD afaik.

I have a Doctor Strange in the open matte web dl 1080p with Russian media resource, the film passengers does not exist in the open matte.
I have a long time am a participant in the German resource bloodsuckerz and my request were recorded in the Open Matte such films as Abyss 1989 and Bandits with Bruce Willis both the film written with channel sky action hd

I was not aware that the Underworld series was doing things in Episode format like Star Wars. When did that happen?

As for this thread, maybe it should be a "German Caps Only" thread as it seems those are the only requests being posted or capped.
