Tell me, is there an Open Matte scene, or is the entire movie cut off from BD?

Haven't made a shot-by-shot comparison but it seems it's just the cropped version - that is very good; I've noted this in only two shots, and I knew what to expect. Note: this "open matte" has a bit more image on top and bottom, at the contrary of HP7.

Does this mean HP7 is cropped too or are you just comparing this one to the cropped HP7? I was understanding that this was the only one of your releases that wasn't "true" Open Matte, is that correct?

AFAIK, the whole HP3 is cropped (read: cropped on both left and right sides, BUT has also a bit more picture on both top and bottom sides), while HP7 has about 14% which is open matte (read: has more picture on all four sides), while the other is mostly cropped or p&s (read: cropped on both left and right sides, and has also less picture on both top and bottom sides).

AFAIK I'm pretty sure that HP1 is all OM; HP2 may be, too; the others are mixed OM/cropped; HP8 is partly full open matte (IMAX, where the BD image can be entirely contained inside a frame), while the rest is "normal" open matte (losing something on the sides, but earning something top/bottom) - can't say the percentage, but if I should guess, I think around half and half. And, unless one would send me a detailed list of start/end frame numbers of IMAX shots, I would NOT release a VAR version! Big Grin
