Night Of The Living Dead Criterion Blu-Ray Release - 2016 Copyright at end of film
#1
Hi, Guys. I wondered if anyone would want to fix the added 2016 copyright at the end of the NOTLD Criterion BD? I ask because the film looks amazing and is for sure the best release to date… but a 2016 copyright is splattered on the screen as the bodies burn at the very end. Kinda takes me out of the film. Petty I know but it is what it is. I am not quite up to the task but I would think lots of people here could do it pretty easily and fast. All that would need to be done is to patch out the copyright with perfectly aligned HD footage from another BD release. Maybe slight color correction. I have the video to work with if anyone would like to do this project.

PS: And yes I know why the 2016 copyright was placed there… to copyright the new restoration done lately. No need to explain that part.

I never knew about this and I understand what you're saying, it's not petty at all. What a shitty thing to do on their part, understandable for them, sure, but it sucks for us.

I agree that it was a very stupid thing to do. It could easily be fixed if someone had the knowledge of these things. I could but I'd have to research a few things and someone else could do it faster than I.

It's not stupid!

Think that I thought myself to change ONE single shot in Young Frankenstein, just because it was flipped horizontally, and probably I'm the only one in the world who has noted it! Big Grin
Sadly my projects are lost due to an HDD crash... Sad

Haha I didn't know about the flipped shot. Did you release that to other fans or just keep it as a personal project?

Actually, too lazy to make it only for a brief shot... Big Grin

Nevertheless, the idea of having a commercial release "botched" bug me a lot!

Unfortunately this seems to be the norm for public domain titles. No-one's going to pay to restore these titles with no way to recoup costs.

Near the end, when the villagers go to the castle; it's possible to tell it because the... officer? has the wooded arm on the wrong side.

Never saw this restauration, but if you want, you can send me that part of the movie (Avidemux can cut out that part losslessly) and a replacement from another version of the movie that doesn't have this and I'll try to fix it with AutoOverlay, DrDre's ColorMatch and After Effects and let you have the fixed segment in some high bitrate format you can reencode.
