This took no time at all - editing by picture revealed the laserdisc and BD masters to be an almost perfect match. Hopefully this simply means that the same film print was used, rather than the same video master (17 years apart!)

A couple of points:

This sync is designed for the original 2008 BD release (MPEG-2 video, no excessive DNR). I have no idea how well it will work with the 2010 edition, since I don't own it - if anyone tries it out perhaps they can let the rest of us know!

This laserdisc track was unfortunately mastered to peak at -6dB, so the volume and dynamic range aren't what they could have been. I've resisted the urge to normalise, but your amp/receiver will have to work a little harder. At least it has plenty of punch when you do crank it up Smile
Hey, thanks. The mpeg2 Blu is I think the same master as the Laserdisc.
Yeah, that's the way it seemed. But were HD masters being done in 1991?
Thanks for syncing that one Jonno. Been looking forward to that one for awhile.
I don't think it's an upscale just old scanning tech.
How might I get my grubby little hands on this gem?
Great work Jonno! This is one of my childhood favourites.
Thank you very much..
But how is this better than the audio included in the Bluray?

I see the bluray has
English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 (48kHz, 24-bit)
English: Dolby Digital 4.0 (Original)

Is this a stereo track?

According to LDDB the track is also 4 channels. http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/03449/1515...tor-(1987)

The one on BD is lossy Dolby Digital.

The Dolby Surround I see in LD's specs, isn't the same?
It's lossy too..
