Hopefully it's alright with the mods to make a new topic here? I thought I'd post WIP stuff here instead of derailing other threads Wink

The new Princess Bride BD from Criterion looks great, but as usual, no stereo track. I had picked up the Nelson LD release before I realized somebody had already captured the Criterion LD, but I guess it was a good thing I did. The Criterion LD is very close to the BD, but the Nelson release looks totally untampered with. So it might actually justify the chore of syncing it up...

Having you own project thread is fine by me and I'm sure the others would be fine with it.

Wow that's a big difference. Does the Nelson have any background noise that was removed in the CC? If not it looks a lot more dynamic.

I noticed reduced hiss in a few quieter scenes on the Criterions (plus compression on the BD), but the Nelson sounds very natural to my ears.

Random question, but is there a "best" way to convert 24fps synced audio to 24000/1001? I just ended up using eac3to with the "-24.000 -changeTo23.976". Is pitch ever affected with those adjustments or is it just timing?

If you happen to go from 25fps to 24 and vice versa, then there will be a noticeable difference in pitch. Otherwise, I don't think 23.97-24 will exhibit a pitch change but may slightly effect timing depending on what source you use.

Here it is written how to win without losing the tone of the voices, I always drag it with any frame rate, as I often work with clear voices

Thanks for the info guys!

Also, any anime fans here? Vampire Hunter D is one of the first I ever saw back in the 90s on the Sci-fi channel (Saturday Anime!). The Blu-ray release looks great, but the new dub just doesn't scratch that nostalgia itch for me. Thankfully, there is a Streamline LD with both English and Japanese dubs. The digital track on the disc is the Japanese, so I have to settle with a 24-bit/48khz analog capture. I've captured both (I'm going to use the Japanese to help sync the English), so don't fret if you prefer the Japanese! Yet another to throw on the sync pile..

Speaking of which, I've amassed over 20 captures now that need syncing, so I guess it's time to start working through them. I have a pretty wide range of stuff too. As I mentioned in the Predator thread I've done new bit perfect rips of part 1 and 2, as well as other action stuff like First Blood 1 and 2, some holiday, animation, horror, etc. Unfortunately I am going to be slammed the next couple weeks with real life stuff, but the holidays coming up should give me some time to catch up Smile

Excellent stuff bronan!

Love anime from the 90s. Vampire Hunter D is one I grew up with and always love to watch English dubs of ones from that era.

Have you got a full list of captures you’re working on?
