Wanted to share some photos of the case I made for this project.

Seems nice! Still, I don't get where the disc must be put in...   can you post more pics and/or a video? Very curious...

Thanks, spoRv! Discs, plural, actually -- I turned this into a 3-disc set, with a single disc for each version of the film. Each of the three flaps/pages is basically a disc envelope that's open across the top. The discs can just slip in and out.

Heya! This project is one of the reasons I joined. I didn't think the SE with proper colors actually existed somewhere as I've never seen it in retail.
Movie-censorship feature a DVD vs. BD comparison and, so, mention a PAL DVD release (they call it director's cut, aren't they mistaken?), but I've never seen it, or maybe it doesn't exist in my language even though I've long known about the "edition speciale", dunno.

EDIT: or, well, actually there IS one called 'version longue' but I'm not sure it is THE one: ASIN B00012E3LY, there is no year of release info, just says it's 1.85:1 & 5.1 ENG FR

Which brings me to wondering if the current SE's (BR teal-tinted) French audio could fit in that JP SE version ?
Apologies if the question sounds stupid I really have no technical experience in that field, but it seems there could be a timing/pitch discrepancy since the source video and audio are from different formats and/or regions ?

Well after losing this project on a HDD, I was able to piece it back together and rebuild the 3 cuts built from the WOWOW. Everything seemed fine until in testing I found this shot(s) has the same screwed up highlights (the green in the muzzle flash). I think I missed it in the new copies I made. So have to go back and fix that on the SE and TV. So still plugging away.

Sorry to hear you have to start over, PDB. I can't count the number of times I've had to redo an hour or more of work after Adobe Illustrator crashes (I have ADHD and when I get hyperfocused I forget to save) and somehow it ends up turning out better than it was. I don't know what it is, but it's like starting fresh makes you see things you didn't see the first time. It doesn't make the redo any less of a chore, but at least there's that silver lining to hang onto...

My wife has never seen Aliens, so I'm very excited to think her first time seeing it this October will hopefully be your WOWOW cut!

Oh no!! In the time between my last post in this thread and now, the whole world went to hell in a handbasket and yet the thing I'm most sad about at the moment is missing the window to download your TV cut! 

I'm going to combine amazon "open matte" (1080p) TC and BD SE with the addition of the old transfer as color reference by 30%.

I assume you are talking about the Japanese video I used? If no one has it I can probably help you but it would be a few days before I can get it to you.

A 35mm scan of the theatrical has been floating around in recent months. Sure, it has the usual scratches, but looks pretty damn good, imo. Could be a good base to work from when grading other releases.

I'm surprised there hasn't been any talk of it on the usual discussion forums.

I'm fairly certain not (especially given the "No Longer Available" in the thread title), but would anyone be able to share TV cut regrade?

KK650's old SE regrade has been my go-to for a while, but this sounds much better.

My top thre fave films so sad to of missed this and im still scrtaching my head why we dont have a gorgeous looking and souding version in 2023 its madness,sad i missed this but probs to all who helped out on this great film.
