Yes it's a great restoration, this project is purely a restoration of what Criterion did but the HK Rescue version contains a lot of other audio tracks and extra features.

Thanks very much - it's not actually me who makes the covers, I work with a guy who does the covers and I do the discs, but yes they look great and he does disc art and insert booklets etc. 

I didn't touch the video on this project no but I read that HK Rescue color corrected it using the Criterion as the source.

The blurb for the HKR release claims the Japan blu was colour corrected to match theatrical prints. I've never seen Hard Boiled theatrically so I couldn't comment in that respect but I watched the Criterion LD recently (and loved it), the HKR does not look like the Criterion.

I do not know, if the Criterion LD and the Criterion DVD share the same color grading, but each DVD release seem to get a different grading:
