Mad Max - itunes exclusive documentaries

The FR doc wasn't on the original discs because there wasn't enough time to finish it then.

What's weird is that it didn't make it on the Black & Chrome discs.

I think this is because they took the same authoring for the color version and just swapped the film to the BW version.
Itunes extras are tied to a special server and AFAIK cant be downloaded like the main feature can be, which means the usual itunes extraction tools are out of the question.

However, if one has the latest model of the Apple TV or a latest Roku with the Itunes app, you can access itunes extras. And if one has a HDMI capturing setup with HDMI splitter that bypassess encryption, they can get the extras that way.
Hoo boy. I've persevered a little more here, but this is a frustrating business!

I bit the bullet and purchased the itunes Fury Road, figuring that at least I'll be able to watch the darned thing. SBK is of course correct - the extras are streaming only, so there's no download to intercept as with the main movie. I guess a screen capture software might be able to do something with that, but it's far from ideal. If I ever end up investing in a new Apple TV, I might give that a try, but that's a step too far for now.

By the way, I also activated my digital codes from my Black & Chrome Blu - I'd never bothered before. In the UK, at least, the digital movie is only available through Google Play, which doesn't seem to bother with niceties like extras. Other regions may vary, but that's another dead end.

The search continues...
Hope you manage to get these, would love to see them. I don't suppose anyone has the French documentary on Mad Max Thunderdome?
Just an FYI, you can get the apple TV as an app for the 4K fire stick from amazon. I got a few digital copies on my iTunes account and watch them that way

For £50 that's a pretty good short-term solution - it'll give me a couple of other apps that I can't access elsewhere. Cheers Rob.
I’d donate £10 towards it if you can record the docs
Well, that depends on me being able to do an un-HDCP'd capture. I have a couple of splitters I can try, and a Blackmagic Intensity Pro. Only thing with that is, the last time I dabbled with HD captures, the BM software grumbled about my HDD speed. This is turning into quite the can of worms!
If you'd want to avoid the hurdles of Blackmagic devices that are known to be notoriously picky with rig specs, you could try a Hauppauge or Elgato HDMI capping device if you can deal with not getting lossless caps. The Hauppauge and Elgatos block recording of HDCP signals, so you'd have to find a splitter to deal with that and pray it works.

A cheaper option would be this external card I use for footage from Apple TV, Sony UBPX800 for Amazon Video stuff, and so on https://www.amazon.co.uk/AGPtek%C2%AE-Ca...-1-catcorr

It records externally to a USB 2.0/3.0 external hard drive or flash drive to avoid headaches with PCs and hardware specs. It silently bypasss HDCP out of the box and takes 1080p 23.97 and 24fps, which a lot of the more expensive external and internal ones don't even take. It outputs 12-16mbs bit-rate MP4s (which is fine for most streaming stuff since they're all already compressed to mush) but the lossy AAC stereo encoding makes the audio sound like a tinny and hissy 96kbs AC3 track, in which I'd have to use Audacity's WASAP recording to record 2.0 PCM stereo from the same title playing in a browser/app to sync with the MP4 footage.

Be warned the Firestick (least the one I tried back in 2018) is very glitchy with any form of 23.97/24p content, even when played back in 60hz. The Apple TV also has a bug where it interprets 24fps content as 23.976 and might have skips at random intervals. This is only a problem with titles from smaller studios like StudioCanal which typically encode at 24. Most from the likes of Sony and Warner encode at 23.976, which the ATV shouldn't have a problem with.
