Hard Boiled - Japanese BD Regrade

Hi guys.

I recently finished a regrade of the true 1080p japanese bluray. The goal was to get rid of the yellow tint on some scenes and fix the brightness.

I used the Dragon Dynasty BD as a general source for color. And also the Criterion DVD as reference for the scenes that should have a yellow tint and the ones that shouldn't (the Criterion has cigarette burns, which means it's sourced from a print, although it looks like shit).


I managed to get the Laserdisc mono audio track, much better than all the awful multichannel remixes, and also the english subtitles from the the old ADC remux (true subtitles, not dubtitles).


Audio:

1.- Cantonese LD Mono. 2.0 Wav

2.- Cantonese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1

3.- Spanish DD 2.0

4.- Cantonese AC3 5.1


Subtitles.

1.- Spanish

2.- English

If I remember correctly the hospital scene has a lot of blue hues, like the battle in the warehouse (no screens provided)
On your screenshots it's more natural hues. Also some shots have a green tint in, look screenshot 3.

I can't remember how the Criterion looks like, even though I've the LD here. But if I remember correctly the German DVD has the original colors. At the very least, give the trailer from the Criterion a look. That's how the movie actually looked like.

Why not drop the horrible remixes? They all sound like shit. The mono mix, just like you said, is miles better. Just saying

Look at the gallery, there are plenty of pics . I also had the german DVD at one point. Not too different from the Dragon Dynasty, which I think  has more balanced colors -  comparison

Definitely not the same. Theirs is not regraded.

Sanjuro_61, great work on the regrade.

We've explored the differences with the HK Rescue version in other threads, but the long and short of it is that HKR tweaked the brightness of the JP print without regrading it.

This looks fantastic, good job! This new Japanese transfer is of really great quality, but seeing those screenshots, I think your regrade makes it even better. Is there any way to get it outside Blutopia? I would really love to watch it, but I'm not on Blu and applications are closed.
