All Blu-ray and UHD releases have a 5.1 track. Does anyone have the laserdisc with the original audio?

I'd like to be sure of that, this is one of the best films in the history of cinema. We can see this logo at the end of the movie: https://imgbox.com/bYjP3Q9W (2022-04-05, 12:03 PM)Onti Wrote:(2022-04-05, 01:06 AM)Dire Wrote:(2022-04-04, 10:38 PM)Onti Wrote: All Blu-ray and UHD releases have a 5.1 track. I've never actually seen any proof that it had a 5.1 theatrically. I would assume it's Dolby Surround until proven otherwise.
And even if there was a theatrical 5.1, the 2.0 would probably be a separate mix and worth taking a look at. I would assume it's Dolby Surround until proven otherwise. i think there is more evidence pointing to it being 5.1 theatrically than matrixed stereo. there's more info in the blu-ray.com thread and one guy who even compared the LD/BD audio (only felt the LD audio was warmer but no idea how he compared). there are some other very knowledgeable posters that have also said 5.1 theatrically including this post: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p.../a/PgQnTko 5.1 on the original blu ray (not the UHD) already sounds pretty good though so there's just not a lot of room for improvement like there is with a lot of older movies. it's not like it's rolled off or anything and it doesn't look/sound like it's been manipulated . there's a good chance the 2.0 mix sounds roughly the same if not worse. here's comparisons i took in case anyone does snag a recording of the LD: https://imgur.com/a/PgQnTko https://imgur.com/a/CmeOCsU https://imgur.com/a/aJagXn8
this doesnt really prove anything but it says it was remastered in 5.1

That was the old name for Dolby Digital before late 1995- early 1996 in, and it would usually say verify theater format to let you know what sound set up they would use so technically it might as well been 5.1 theatrically. |
