Does there happen to be a telecine of the theatrical cut of Kickboxer (1987)? I know that all home video versions post-VHS are all the same edited version which is kinda known as the notorious "producer's cut". There also happens to be a composited fan edit using the best element available to the author (which happened to be a aussie VHS cut for many of the missing scenes), but that also is sadly MIA.

I would be very interested in seeing a restoration of this film be brought back to life. Some info on IMDb:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097659/alternateversions I live in Australia. I could see what I can do about attempting to at least track down the Palace VHS. Otherwise, I do have a pretty low quality rip of the film supposedly "uncut". It clocks in at 98:54 seconds (PAL) with some nasty 128kbps lossy audio, but better than nothing for the time being I suppose.
Someone did the legwork on a composited cut quite a few years back that used the aussie palace VHS for quite a few missing scenes. I didn't believe that it was still around, but I came across this a few days ago...

This is the info I found concerning the above fan cut btw. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p...tcount=143 https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p...tcount=151 https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p...tcount=153 https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p...tcount=166 Unfortunately it seems like the theatrical cut that many of us know from pre-1995 are stuck with VHS or bad cable rips. I would of hoped that something else was out there, but it seems like that is not the case.
Yeeaah. I messaged that Undertaker person on the Blu-ray forum in hopes of sourcing his cut from him, but sadly he's got a "blu-ray" version of his theatrical cut up on a website to buy for 70 USD. No thanks I'm tempted to see if I can track down the Aussie Palace VHS myself and either upload it for someone to work from or piece together an "HD" cut myself.
That's a pure dick move on his behalf. Oh well, I am sure that someone would bother if they would have access to a proper video rip. Almost too bad that nobody can find a sealed or barely used copy because of knowing about VHS degradation and all. I am curious what version is on LD as I haven't found a clear answer on that. Goodluck on your search if you decide to!
Yeah. Pretty major dick move. I may very well have considered grabbing it from him if the price was reasonable enough
I've bought the R18+ rated Aussie Palace VHS for Kickboxer, as well as Wrong Bet (Lionheart). Waiting for them to arrive. I haven't had any experience ripping VHS to digital before, but I'm also looking into getting a VCR with SCART and/or S-Video output to do so.
I have a ripped US VHS version of this film. Unfortunately, I don't have the tools to get a stellar rip of the VHS, so the colors are kind of washed out on the rip.
