I'd like to know as well please.
Not here, this forum is for information only.
WOW. I had no idea they'd released this movie again with such a strong yellow tint. All it took was seeing this shot...
Turned into this... Horrible. I'll never forget the goosebumps that shot gave me when I first saw it in the theater - it had the gorgeous color range of a genuine classic Technicolor print from the 40s. It was like Leone had built a time machine. To see it destroyed with that piss yellow tint, I'm gutted that people will see it that way and never know differently. Thank you for kk for the restoration!
I like the adjustment, but this fix is taken from a full screen 1.78:1 master, that cuts off the sides of the 1.85:1 original scan.
It totally ruins Sergio Leone meticulous framing. For rewatching this film, you need to get the original italian Blu-ray release which is 1.85:1 and offers the complete framing. Sure the color is totally botched, but as the added scenes are in some cases really bad looking, imagine it's like watching a bootleg extended cut which it is.
What does the Italian Blu-Ray look like in motion? The compression looks pretty bad on caps-o-holic:

It doesn't matter if it looks bad, it's in the proper format. The 1.78:1 re-release marginaly improves the PQ, while cropping the sides.

A sync of the european cut (not the crap american cut with the flashback added) is on a certain blog with all the dubs in mono, french, english and italian (in the correct pitch, as the italian mono is in the wrong pitch). Leone films on official release are complete wrecks.
+1 on that Stamper, would love a version of the Italian 1.85:1 framing even with the compression problem using the kk650 color correction. Maybe spoRv would be able to do one of his overlay hybrid's using the both the US and Italian bluray's to fix the framing and eliminate the poor compression outside of the edges. I assume they would line up as they are both from the same master
That is actually not a bad idea a candidate for a panup?
Hopefully spoRv is reading this thread and is willing to take a look.
