As some of you may or may not know, the image of Mars in the new "War of the Worlds" 4K disc is blue-ish. I'd like to fix it to make it the proper red. I've done video work before, but not for 4K AVC. I have FCP and Premiere. Is there a workflow for this so that the AVC file I'd be muxing back in is near the same quality as the original?
If it's 4K disc, it should be HEVC 10bit and HDR - so not AVC, but it doesn't change a lot.
I use only Avisynth, so I can't be of much help here; my workflow is HEVC 10bit HDR -> HEVC 8bit SDR -> grading and eventually other processing -> lossless 8bit SDR -> final encoding
Personally I like most AV1 - for several feature and about 30% bitrate saving Vs HEVC - but you should use the latter if you want broader compatibility.
Right, I meant to say HEVC.
I haven't used Avisynth, but I'll give it a shot.
You convert from HDR to SDR, do you find any noticeable difference?
I would try and keep the HDR if you can
