The Abyss (1989) UHD WEB release

FYI: The Abyss (1989) SE is available as UHD SDR on Amazon.

EDIT: confirmed using a 4K master, hence more detail (albeit not a lot compared to WEB or HDTV); colors are a bit off IMHO; sadly cropped top and bottom Sad

It's definitely DNRed but I will say that it's the best DNR I've seen in terms of preserving detail. A lot of fiddling clearly went into this transfer. Having said that, it's scrubbed a little too clean for my liking.

I guess it's because is a WEB version, leaving the top encoding for the future UHD-BD (I hope!)

I think I have only seen the film in VHS quality. Then I read the book. I think I should get this just to see what my memories look like compared to restored 4k lol.

Is everything DNRed these days? Are people afraid of grain?
