LaserDiscs needed for replacing BD audio
I have the early 90s mono version ENTER THE DRAGON coming in the mail. It is going to be my first attempt at capturing audio (let alone bit-perfect audio).

Of course I ordered it and then saw that Criterion is putting it out with the mono track. Ohhhhh well.

Good luck! Criterion could very well noise reduce the track, so may be worth the preservation.

I have the CED:

And I got my player working again, so I'm going to try and capture it while I can... It'll be shit quality - video and audio - full of dropouts and skips and repeated frames, I'm sure but hey, it's fun messing with this old stuff. Hard to believe how far home video has come in the last 30 years...

I will be ripping the Enter the Dragon laserdisc when my audio capture device gets here. The other one was stolen from my apartment lobby which sucks.

I'm also thinking about grabbing the original analog-only laserdisc for comparisons sake.

the same mix is probably on the R1 DVD release from 1998.

Possible I suppose, although Bigrob did say that none of the blus/DVDs he knew of had the same level of bass

I've been toying with a custom project syncing the original mono and good subtitles to the Japanese BD of Skinny Tiger Fatty Dragon. The BD only has a bad 5.1 mix (though a later print has a 2.0 downmix of the 5.1). I have access to the Mei Ah DVD mono, but I'm curious if anyone might have the HK laserdisc? I've heard its Cantonese track is great!

Thanks!

If anyone is interested, I have some French laserdiscs with original audio:

-Terminator (mono)
-Giant
-Mutiny on the Bounty
-Cleopatra
-Casablanca
-Bus Stop
-Gone with the Wind
-River of No Return

Has anyone heard to laserdisc versions of Godfather 1 & 2? How do they compare to the mono mixes on the Blu-rays?

Good questions! One of my next projects will likely be buying and ripping every mono laserdisc version of Godfather 1. If anyone has any information though, that would be great.
